South America’s military governments during the Cold War: a discussion of inter-state warfare

During the Cold War, dozens of military governments existed in South America. Some lasted only days or weeks, while others years and even decades. The human rights abuses carried out by these have been well analysed, like Argentina’s Dirty War. However, an interesting fact about this period tends to be ignored: inter-state warfare between American states, during governments, was very scarce. Falklands / Malvinas war is case a government, Argentina, beginning against another state, United Kingdom. There were other incidents that could caused era, but avoided. War America happened 1981 Ecuador Peru, both being under civilian rule. (and still are) reasons for states attack one another, particularly regain lost disputed territory; however, as essay demonstrates, almost non-existent. This will discuss why did not their neighbours turbulent period.
